How Online Classes Work
Home > Online Programs > How Online Classes Work
DBU online courses are not self guided or merely correspondence classes. You will interact with a diverse group of students and excellent instructors multiple times a week. Our courses are divided into "sessions" so that each week (or few days for a Summer or Winter course) a new session of course materials opens for you to read through, study, and complete assigned tasks. Most instructors require weekly participation in threaded discussions to deeper your understanding of the material and promote collaborative learning and interaction. Some instructors require group work or projects. Many of your online courses will have timed exams and quizzes.
All of our courses are asynchronous meaning you will never be required to log in at a specific time. Your instructor sets date or time ranges for you to complete assignments. Course materials that you have already covered will always be available to you for review until the end of that semester.
Each DBU course is developed by a qualified faculty member and follows specific guidelines of best practices in online education for an incredible learning experience. In addition, courses are taught by the same qualified faculty who teach in the classroom ensuring connection and consistency with DBU's mission.
