"My name is
Brian Hamilton and I started with DBU as an online student.
I lived in Anchorage, Alaska for about five and a half years,
and I've been taking online classes since the summer of
'01, I do believe.
Several classes, about twelve so far that I've completed online.
I was in the military and they sent me here since to complete
my degree in residence.
But I'm still searching to do classes online as much as I
can because I do appreciate everything that the program does
for you. It allows you to study on your own time; you don't
have to drive across a city, a large city such as Dallas and
the Metroplex around it. It makes it quite difficult to get
places on time. And the Online department, really, it just
opens that right up for you. You don't have to drive all over
the place, you can sit in the comfort of your own home, read,
do your studying, get on the internet, and actually participate
in your class.
The Online Department here, they have a 1-800 number you can
contact and they'll transfer you anywhere and let you talk
to anybody you need to talk to. Every time I've called they've
always been supportive of all the needs that I've ever had
with any part of the school here; from advisors to financial
aid and all the way through the whole school and the whole
campus. I would definitely recommend DBU's online classes
to anyone out there that is looking for another way to get
their degree done, and they're not able or wanting to go to
a typical school environment where you sit in a classroom.
I definitely recommend online classes, especially from DBU;
they make it so easy for you.
If you haven't ever done an online class, don't be scared.
They're not hard, hard things to do, I mean getting on the
computer and actually getting into it is probably the scariest
part about an online class. And once you get through that
and do the orientation that they provide, you know you'll
really have a good time doing online classes. You have freedom.
You can do your homework and stuff like that whenever you
want. Of course, it's structured and on schedule, but during
your week or however long you have to do an assignment, you
have that whole time to work on it. And you can really-I mean-freedom.
There's nothing more to say about that, as far as online goes."
