Our
motto:
ABUNDANT
RESOURCES - SUPERIOR SERVICE
"Abundant
Resources" begin with over 75 scholarly subscription
databases, links to free sites covering a plethora of subjects,
and over 47,000 ebooks, all web accessible. In addition,
there are over 740,000 volumes in our collection of books,
bound periodicals, government documents, sound recordings,
and microform pieces available in the library proper. We also
have numerous DVDs, and both audio and videocassettes that
can be checked out. So no matter what format you prefer, we
have information content to meet your needs and to support
the curriculum at DBU.
"Superior Service" is provided
by our excellent library faculty and staff. Three reference
librarians, Linda Stephenson, John Jaeger, and Scott Jeffries, are available
throughout the day and into the evening to facilitate your
access to information. They love to direct patrons to applicable
books and articles, all the while offering helpful hints on
excellent research techniques. Faculty members are encouraged to schedule class time with Linda, John, or Scott, who will provide class-specific research instruction
for your students. They are also available for syllabus consultation.
Distance Learning students and faculty have their very own personal librarian,
Debbi Richard, to respond to their research needs.
She visits off-campus classes, teaches research workshops,
and responds to information requests by phone and email as
well as serving as the library webmaster. Her customized motto
for off-campus students is "Equivalent Access / Superior
Service." Give her a call: 214-333-5225.
In addition,
we have Debra Collins and Donna Daniel, who are responsible for
getting library materials purchased, processed and on the
shelves. Access to resources through the library catalog is
facilitated by Debra's vigilant updates.
Other valuable services are provided by our Acquisitions Assistant,
Circulation Desk Supervisor, Distance Learning Assistance,
Government Documents Supervisor, Interlibrary Loan Supervisor,
Serials Supervisor, and Library Secretary. Everyone works
as a team to provide extensive resources for our students,
faculty and staff.
All of us are ready, willing, and able to facilitate your
access to information. We hope you'll ask for our assistance
and allow us to demonstrate "Superior Service" as
we help you locate just the right information within our "Abundant
Resources."
