The Ph.D. in Leadership Studies is a 60-hour research doctorate program designed to develop and enhance competencies in order to equip servant leaders for the twenty-first century. The degree consists of a 30-hour core of leadership courses, a 12-hour concentration in one of four areas (business, higher education, ministry, or general leadership), 12 hours of research and statistics, and a 6-hour dissertation.
Academically rigorous and creative, faculty and students engage the study of leadership as a community of scholars from business, education, government, ministry, and other disciplines. In addition to the semester courses, the program includes three summer institutes comprised of 7-14 day intensive sessions. The first summer institute is held in Dallas and focuses upon personal growth, professional development, and leadership courses. The second summer institute includes a trip to Washington, D.C., with a special emphasis on political leadership. The third summer institute takes place in Oxford, England, with a concentration on global and cultural leadership issues.
The application deadline for the next summer cohort is March 15, 2013. The Dallas Institute for the 2012 cohort is scheduled for July 13 - July 21.
