Master of Liberal Arts

The Master of Liberal Arts degree is designed to meet the needs of the student who desires an interdisciplinary, broad-based graduate education rather than specialization in a single discipline. This flexibility is appealing to a wide range of students and professionals who want an expanded liberal arts education and a better understanding of their heritage. With proper prerequisites, one may take a combination of courses, including those in the Arts, Humanities, Christian Studies, English as a Second Language, and Missions. The MLA is an approved member of the Association of Graduate Liberal Studies Programs.

Christian Studies Concentrations

MLA concentrations pertaining to Christian Studies include Christian Studies and Missions. These concentrations seek to cultivate and challenge students in their calling as Christ’s ambassadors by providing the knowledge and skills necessary to engage the world around them in non-profit, ministry, or international missions work.

Fine Arts Concentrations

MLA concentrations pertaining to the Fine Arts include Art, Art Theory, Graphic Design and Fine Arts. These concentrations are ideal for students interested in furthering their passion for Art, Music, Theater, or Drama in careers as professional artists, graphic designers, advertising design, illustrators, exhibition designers and curators, church worship directors, or art instructors

Humanities Concentrations

MLA concentrations pertaining to the Humanities include English, English as a Second Language, English Instruction, History, History Instruction, and Political Science. These concentrations include an instructional track and thesis option for those students seeking preparation for a career as an instructor at the collegiate or traditional school-age level, careers spanning freelance writing, research, archiving, civil service, and public affairs, or those in pursuit of a doctoral degree.

Interdisciplinary Option

Instead of a single concentration, students may also choose to complete their program with an Interdisciplinary approach. This option allows students to choose from any combination of nine courses to craft their own unique learning plan. The multi-faceted degree plan encapusulates course work in areas such as communication, arts, Christian studies, business, and the Humanities. The MLA Interdisciplinary develops students' critical-thinking, leadership, and written and communication skills in a variety of contexts that can be completed entirely online.
