Suzanne Higgins Bowles is adjunct professor of Voice teaching vocal pedagogy, applied voice and class voice at Dallas Baptist University. In addition to her teaching duties at DBU, she is adjunct professor of voice at Texas Woman's University in Denton and also maintains a private studio in the Dallas area.

Prior to coming to DBU in 2005, Mrs. Bowles was a full-time instructor of voice at the University of Texas at El Paso for 12 years where she taught vocal pedagogy, diction, applied voice, and class voice at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She was also a member of curriculum and advisory committees in music education and musical theater and served as an undergraduate advisor.

Mrs. Bowles holds the Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Baylor University and the Master of Music degree in vocal performance from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Bowles, a soprano, has maintained an active singing and solo performance career performing numerous recital, oratorio, operatic and musical stage roles for university, community and local church events.

Students who have studied with Suzanne Bowles are performing in professional and semi-professional organizations throughout the U.S. including musical theater, opera and community choruses. Several have completed or are currently studying toward graduate and post-graduate degrees at the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, New Mexico State University, the University of North Texas, and the University of Texas at Austin.

Mrs. Bowles is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and has sung and participated in numerous other musical conferences and conventions. Many of her students have competed at local and regional NATS competitions, several of them receiving first place honors. She is regularly called upon as a clinician and adjudicator for school and vocal competitions and workshops.

She is married to Ron Bowles, Dean of the College of Fine Arts at DBU, and they make their home in Plano, Texas. They are members of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas. Their special interests include attending concerts, history and travel.
