Grade 6 Generalist
Students planning to be certified to teach early childhood
through grade 6 (EC-6) will secure an interdisciplinary academic
major and meet the appropriate general studies requirements.
To be eligible for Texas certification, students will follow
the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) EC-6 standards.
Students follow a course of study which includes the following
components: (1) General Studies, (2) Professional Responsibility,
and (3) an Interdisciplinary Academic Major which includes
42 upper-leve semester hours.
