The DBU Baseball Vision for Champions is a major campaign effort
to build support and momentum for a program that the University
views as central to its recruitment efforts, its mission, and its visibility.
It's also about reaching people through the sport of baseball — a game
that people love — and introducing them to a Savior who loves them
even more.

Baseball has been a part of DBU for nearly 100 years dating back
to our Decatur Baptist College team of 1908. As the University's flagship intercollegiate sport, not only is it an important rallying point for the
student population, it gives both the players and student supporters the opportunity to share Christ with others.

The DBU baseball program is a strong element in recruiting, and
succeeds in developing quality athletes who can excel as committed
team players, academic achievers, and Christian servant leaders.

Because of this, we envision baseball as a key program to draw quality
undergraduates to our Christ-centered studies, increase the quality of
student life, and gain visibility for the University while increasing
community interest and support.

Major gifts and endowed scholarships play an important role in
supporting student-athletes and the DBU Baseball program. As the
cost of a college education and the expense of collegiate athletics
continue to rise, permanent endowment gifts provide the support
needed for many athletes to flourish and excel — in the classroom,
on the playing field, and in all areas of life.
