Lady Patriots Golf Signs Two in Early Signing Period

Head Coach Kenny Trapp announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent this week.
The Lady Patriots are coming off a successful 2008-2009 season, where they placed well in many of their tournaments, while qualifying one player for the NCAA Regional Tournament.
Courtney Radford is ranked 22nd in the state of Texas and 181st of all seniors in the country. Radford is coming to DBU from Allen, Texas.
Mercedes Rios is currently ranked 24th in the state of Texas and 189th in the country. Rios is from Euless, Texas.
"This is a big day for our program! To not only be able to sign two of the best seniors in the country, but to add two great individuals to the team will represent our program and university with class. I am very excited to be able to coach both Mercedes and Courtney for the next four years," Head Coach Kenny Trapp said.

Tournament Results
The Dallas Baptist University Lady Patriot Golf Team finished the Oklahoma Collegiate Golf Tournament in Duncan, Oklahoma, on Tuesday in eighth place. The tournament was held at The Territory Golf Club and was hosted by Cameron University.
The Lady Patriots were only four shots out of sixth place at the end of the two round tournament. Sophomore Christa Williams and Freshman Julia Daneshfar had impressive individual performances, with Williams shooting a 154 that was good enough for ninth place individually and Daneshfar ending with a two round total of 159 to leave her in 19th overall.
Freshman Whiney Novak turned in rounds of 81 and 82 to finish tied for 31st place with a tournament total of 163. Senior Heather Wilbur and Junior Kristen Tucker finished tied for 37th and 64th place respectively, recording tournament totals of 164 and 175.
The Lady Patriots will be back in action on Monday, October 26 as they travel to Monterrey, CA to compete in the Golf Mart Lady Otter Invite. The tournament will be hosted by California State University.

Lady Patriot Golf Opens Season with Eighth Place Finish

The Dallas Baptist University Lady Patriot Golf Team finished the Lady Buff Stampede in 8th place. The tournament was hosted by West Texas A&M University at the La Paloma Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas, on Monday September 28 and Tuesday September 29. The Lady Patriots ended the 36 hole tournament with a team total of 330.
Senior Heather Wilbur led the Lady Patriots as she finished tied for 8th place individually turning in rounds of 77 and 84 for a total of 161. Junior Kristen Tucker turned in rounds of 86 and 83 for a two round total of 169, which was good enough for 31st place. Freshman Julia Daneshfar was on the heels of Tucker as she ended the final round with a two round total of 170 to give her a 33rd place finish. Daneshfar shot a 82 in round one and an 88 in round two.
Senior Krystle Chick and Freshman Courtney Burris finished the tournament tied for 39th and 49th place respectively. Chick turned in rounds of 87 and 85, while Burris ended with rounds of 87 and 93.
The Lady Patriots are back in action on October 4-6, 2009, as they travel to Edmond, Oklahoma, to compete in the UCO Broncho Classic hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma.

The Patriot Men’s team finished their historical 2008-2009 season with a birth to the NCAA Division II Super-Regional Tournament. This marked the first ever selection into postseason play for the Patriots as they finished the tournament in 14th place. The team achieved numerous records during the 2008-2009 season, including a first place finish at the St. Edward’s Invitational, which was the first team victory in DBU Golf history, as well as breaking tournament team lows numerous times during the year, and nine top 10 team finishes.
The Patriots were led by newcomer Freshman Seth Stuart, as he ended the season with four top three individual finishes, including one coming in the Heartland Conference Tournament to lead the team to a third place finish. Stuart made DBU history for himself as he recorded the lowest individual tournament score at the conference tournament shooting a 208, only four strokes out of an individual conference title.
Stuart and Junior Bennett Smith were both honored by the Heartland Conference for their play during the season, with each player being named Second Team All-Conference, and Stuart being awarded conference Freshman of the Year.
The Lady Patriot Golf team, in its fourth year of existence, has competed as true contenders at the NCAA Division II level and in the Heartland Conference. The Lady Patriots competed in several tournaments throughout the 2008-2009 season finishing in the top 10 on eight different occasions, including a fifth place finish in both the DBU Classic and Oklahoma Intercollegiate Golf Tournament.
The Lady Patriots were led throughout the season by Junior Heather Wilbur, who finished the season with three, top five individual finishes, and represented the Lady Patriots in the NCAA Division II Super-Regional as the first ever DBU female athlete to achieve this mark. Wilbur started the season off with a fifth place finish at the Drury University Fall Shootout. She finished the regular season play with a first place finish in the Tarleton State Coca-Cola Classic and a third place finish in the Heartland Conference Tournament. Wilbur concluded her 2008-2009 season with a first ever regional birth in Lady Patriot Golf history. Wilbur finished the NCAA Division II Super-Regional in 11th place.
Wilbur and Sophomore Kristen Tucker were both honored by the Heartland Conference for their play during the season, with Wilbur being named All-Conference First Team, and Tucker being named All-Conference Second Team.

The Dallas Baptist University Patriot Men’s Golf Team wrapped up their 2009 season finishing 14th at the NCAA Division II Central Super Regional Golf Tournament in Allendale, Michigan, hosted by Grand Valley State. The Patriots finished with a total team score of 896, only four strokes out of 11th place.
Junior Bennett Smith is led the Patriots throughout the tournament turning in rounds of 76, 71, and 74 for a total score of 221 to finish tied for 28th place individually.
Freshman Seth Stuart is tied for 50th place, turning in a rounds of 77, 74, and 73 for a total score of 224.
Senior Brad Howard finished tied for 60th place with a total score of 226 with rounds of 79, 71, and 76. Senior Connor Smith posted rounds of 78, 75, and 77 to finish his DBU golf career finishing in 82nd place overall.
Junior Nic Tacher led the way for the Patriots through round one finishing the day with a score of 74. On day two, Tacher turned in a round of 80, to sit in 86th place going into the final round. Tacher shot a 77 on the third and final round to finish tied for 88th place.
Junior Heather Wilbur turned in a round of 80 in the first round of the NCAA Division II West Super Regional in Omaha, Nebraska. Wilbur headed into round two tied for 16th place individually. In round two, Wilbur was able to break into the top ten individual scorers as she turned in round of 79 to end the day in 9th place. In the third and final round, Wilbur shot a round of 84, which was good enough for an 11th place finish in her first ever NCAA DII Regional.

The Dallas Baptist University Patriot Men’s Golf Team has wrapped up their first two rounds in the NCAA Division II Central Super-Regional with a team total score of 596 to sit in 12th place. The Patriots moved up from 18th place, as they shot a team total of 291 on day two, which bettered their day one score by 14 strokes.
Junior Bennett Smith is leading the Patriots through two rounds and is tied for 28th place. He turned in a round of 76 on day one and even par in the second round, 71. Senior Brad Howard bounced back on day two after a round of 79 on day one turning in an even par round of 71, sitting tied for 49th place.
Freshman Seth Stuart is tied for 62th place, turning in a rounds of 77 and 74. Senior Connor Smith posted rounds of 78 and 75 to head into the third and final round tied for 78th place.
Junior Nic Tacher led the way for the Patriots through round one finishing the day with a score of 74. On day two, Tacher turned in a round of 80 to sit in 86th place going into the final round.
The Patriots will have an early tee time on Wednesday morning starting at 8:20 a.m. eastern time, as they compete in the third and final round of the regional tournament.
Junior Heather Wilbur turned in a round of 80 in the first round of the NCAA Division II West Super Regional in Omaha, Nebraska. Wilbur headed into round two tied for 16th place individually. In round two, Wilbur was able to break into the top ten individual scorers as she turned in round of 79 and end the day in 9th place.
Wilbur is scheduled to tee off at 8:30 a.m. central time.

The Dallas Baptist University Women’s Golf Team broke into the record books on Monday, April 27, as Junior Heather Wilbur received the first ever individual NCAA Division II Regional Bid for the Lady Patriots, in only their fourth year as a golf program.
Wilbur will compete in the West Regional Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska, at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club, hosted by the University of Nebraska-Omaha, on May 4-5. She will be competing as an individual and will play 54 holes over three days, 18 holes per day, for a chance to move on to the NCAA Division II National Tournament.
The top three teams at the regional and top three individuals not with a team will advance to the championship tournament, held on May13-16, at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.
Wilbur was also named to the All-Heartland Conference First team for her play throughout the 2009 season. Wilbur finished the regular season with four top ten finishes, while finishing in first place in the Tarleton State Coca-Cola Classic and third place in the Heartland Conference Tournament.
"I can not even put into words how excited I am for Heather, all of her hard work has finally paid off. She has been working toward this for three years, and to finally get into a regional is just a huge blessing. She definitely plays for the glory of Christ and is the team leader on and off the course. This is only fitting that the face of our program over the last three years is getting to go to regionals," Head Coach Kenny Trapp said.

The Dallas Baptist University Women’s Golf Team received individual honors as the All-Heartland Conference Teams were announced on Sunday, April 26.
Junior Heather Wilbur was named to the All-Heartland Conference First team for her play throughout the 2009 season. Wilbur finished the regular season with four top ten finishes, while finishing in first place in the Tarleton State Coca-Cola Classic and third place in the Heartland Conference Tournament. Sophomore Kristen Tucker also received conference honors as she was named to the All-Heartland Conference Second Team. Tucker had a top five finish in the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Golf Tournament to help lead the Lady Patriots to a fifth place finish.

The Lady Patriots Women’s Golf Team had to withdraw from the Heartland Conference Golf Tournament on Tuesday in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, at Slick Rock Golf Club due to food poisoning with only Junior Heather Wilbur and Freshman Christa Williams able to compete on the second day of competition.
The Lady Patriots finished day one in 2nd place with a total team score of 311. Junior Heather Wilbur and Sophomore Kristen Tucker are tied for 3rd place individually as they both turned in a round of 76 on day one.
Freshman Christa Williams was close behind shooting a 77 on day one good enough for 5th place going into the day two.
Junior Krystle Chick finished day one tied for 12th place turning in a round of 82, while Senior Jessica Lamb rounded out the Lady Patriot scorers as she shot a 85, leaving her tied for 17th place going into day two. Wilbur and Williams were the only Lady Patriots able to compete on day two of the tournament due to food poisoning.
Wilbur turned in a round of 79 on day two to finish the tournament tied for 3rd place individually with a total score of 155. Williams also tied for 3rd place individually as she turned in a round of 78 on day two. Tucker, Chick, and Lamb all withdrew after round one.
The Lady Patriots are hopeful for a bid to play in the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament. The selection is on Thursday, April 23.

The Lady Patriot Women’s Golf Team has completed day-one of the Heartland Conference Tournament on Monday in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, at the Slick Rock Golf Club. The Lady Patriots sit in 2nd place at the conclusion of round one as they posted a total team score of 311.
Junior Heather Wilbur and Sophomore Kristen Tucker are tied for 3rd place individually as they both turned in a round of 76 on day one.

Wilbur Makes History for Lady Patriots at Tarleton Coca-Cola Invitational

The Lady Patriots Women’s Golf Team traveled to Granbury, Texas, for a two-day tournament at Harbor Lakes Golf Club hosted by Tarleton State University on Monday, April 13, and Tuesday, April 14. The Lady Patriots finished in eighth place overall in the tournament in brutal weather conditions, while garnering DBU’s first ever first place individual finish by Junior Heather Wilbur as she tied for first place.
Wilbur led the Lady Patriots as well as the entire tournament field as she sat in first place at the finish of round one turning in a round of 77 to help her team to the ninth best team score on day-one, 350.
After day one, Sophomore Kristen Tucker was tied for 36th place posting a round of 87. Junior Krystle Chick was tied for 56th place with a round of 92, Freshman Christa Williams ended day one tying for 64th place, turning in a round of 94, and Senior Jessica Lamb rounded out the Lady Patriot scorers posting a round of 105.
On day two, the Lady Patriots improved on their day one team score of 350 by 37 strokes to post the sixth lowest team total of the tournament, 313. Each Lady Patriot was able to improve on their round one scores with Wilbur posting the second lowest round of the tournament.
Wilbur continued her impressive play by turning in a round of 72 for a two-day total of 149. Wilbur finished tied for first place with Katie Mundey from Western Texas Community College, and was forced into a playoff to determine the final outcome. Both women were deadlocked through six grueling playoff holes, and then Mundey was able to better Wilbur on the seventh playoff hole by one stroke to take the playoff win.
Tucker jumped up 12 places to finish in 24th place turning in a round two score of 78 for a two-day total of 165. Williams finished the tournament tying for 46th place as she turned in a round of 78 on day-two to finish with a two-day total of 172.
Chick shot a round of 87 on day-two to finish tied for 64th place with a total score of 179, and Lamb rounded out the Lady Patriot scorers by turning in a tournament total 190, shooting a round of 85 on day-two.
The Lady Patriots are back in action on April 19-21, as they travel to Marble Falls, Texas, to compete in the Heartland Conference Championship Tournament at the Horseshoe Bay Resort.

The Dallas Baptist University Women’s Golf Team traveled to Goodyear, Arizona, for a two-day tournament at Palm Valley Golf Club hosted by Grand Canyon University on Monday, April 6, and Tuesday, April 7. The Lady Patriots finished in 15th place in a strong field of 18 teams.
The Lady Patriots were led by Junior Heather Wilbur, who finished tied for 33rd place with a two-day total of 160 turning with rounds of 77 and 83. Sophomore Kristen Tucker was close behind finishing tied for 37th place, turning in rounds of 81 and 80 for a total tournament score of 161, which was only one stroke behind Wilbur.
Junior Krystle Chick finished tied for 61st place. Chick turned in two rounds of 83 to finish with a two-day total of 166. Freshman Christa Williams ended the tournament in 72nd place shooting a round of 88 on day one and improving her score on day two turning in a round of 85.
Senior Jessica Lamb rounded out the Lady Patriot scorers as she finished tying for 80th place with rounds of 85 and 93 for a total score of 178.
The Lady Patriots are back in action on April 12-14, when they travel to Granbury, Texas, to compete in the Tarleton State Coca-Cola Classic Golf Tournament hosted by Tarleton State University at the Harbor Lakes Golf Club.

The Patriot Women’s Golf Team traveled to Thackerville, Oklahoma, for a two-day tournament at WinStar Golf Club held by East Central University on Monday, March 9, and Tuesday, March 10. The Lady Patriots finished seventh as a team with Junior Heather Wilbur capturing a top ten finish individually.
Wilbur turned in a round of 81 on day one and added the third lowest round on day two turning in a 74 to finish with a final score of 155 tying her for 10th place individually to finish the tournament.
Junior Krystle Chick had a very consistent tournament as she finished tied for 27th place. Chick posted rounds of 82 on both days to end with a total individual score of 164. Freshman Christa Williams was right on Chick’s heels as she finished tied for 31st place with a total stroke count of 167, turning in scores of 85 and 82.
Sophomore Kristen Tucker rounded out the Lady Patriots, turning in a total stroke count of 168, which was good enough to tie her for 36th place. Tucker finished with a score of 85 on day one, and improved on day two posting an 83 to end the tournament.
The Lady Patriots are back on the course on April 5-8, as they travel to Goodyear, Arizona, to compete in Grand Canyon Women’s Invitational at the Palm Valley Golf Club. The tournament will be hosted by Grand Canyon University.

The Lady Patriots Golf Team traveled to Austin, Texas, to compete in the St. Edward’s Invitational on Monday, March 2, and Tuesday, March 3. St. Edward’s University hosted the tournament at Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin. The Lady Patriots were able to capture a 10th place finish with a total team score of 688.
Junior Heather Wilbur led the Lady Patriots through the two day tournament with rounds of 78 and 84 for a total score of 162. Wilbur ended the first day tied for eighth individually as the team sat in ninth place.
The Lady Patriots finished the very windy second round with a team score of 347 and a two day total of 688 to end the tournament in tenth place. Wilbur finished tied for 12th place individually after the second round. Sophomore Kristen Tucker finished with a total score of 173 with rounds of 86 and 87 to finish tied for 43rd place. Junior Audra Van Winkle tied for 53rd, Freshman Christa Williams tied for 57th, and Senior Jessica Lamb rounded out the Lady Patriots as she tied for 63rd.
The Lady Patriots are back in action on March 8-10, 2009, as they travel to Thackerville, Oklahoma, to compete in the Red River Intercollegiate Golf Tournament hosted by East Central University at the Winstar Golf Club.

Lady Patriots Place Fifth in Oklahoma Intercollegiate Tournament

The Dallas Baptist University Lady Patriots competed in their fourth tournament for the Fall 2008 semester on October 20-21. The Oklahoma Intercollegiate Tournament was hosted by
Cameron
University at the Territory Golf Club in
Duncan, Oklahoma. The tournament competition consisted of 11 teams.
The Lady Patriots came out strong in day one to finish the round with a team score of 322 to go into the break in 6th place.
DBU came in on day two with something to prove and finished the day as a team with the third lowest team score of the day turning in a 318.
DBU was led by a great overall performance given by Sophomore Kristen Tucker who turned in the low round of the day with a stunning 73. She added her day one round of 77 to finish in fifth place individually with a total score of 150 in a tough field of close to 75 athletes.

Junior Heather Wilbur finished in 23rd place individually by posting scores of 81 on the first day and 78 on the second day to finish with a score of 159 for the tournament. Senior Jessica Lamb was able to place 32nd in the field individually with scores of 81 and 83 to finish with a total score of 164.
Junior Krystle Chick and Freshman Christa Williams were close behind finishing in 49th and 54th place with their two totals equaling 173 (Chick) and 175 (Williams).
"This was a great showing from all of our players, and a perfect way to finish the Fall on a high note. It was nice to see all of Kristen's hard work and practice pay off for her with a great finish. We can build on this as a team and start focusing on improving our game even more for the start of the Spring season." Head Coach Kenny Trapp said.
The Lady Patriots are back in action as they begin their Spring season on February 22 through the 24 as compete in the St. Mary's Classic Golf Tournament.
