Freshman May Allen and Senior Amanda Emmert were named Heartland Conference Players of the Week for the second consecutive week for their play during the week of October 19-24. Allen was named setter of the week, while Emmert received libero of the week.
Allen and Emmert helped lead the Lady Patriots to a 3-0 record for the week as they defeated Midwestern State University, Texas A&M International University, and St. Edward’s University, all in straight sets.
Allen continued to grow into a leader for the Lady Patriots, with her play at the setter position. During the three victories for DBU, Allen totaled 106 assists, averaging 11.7 per game. Allen also had 21 digs and five kills.
Emmert helped the Patriots continue their hot streak over the week, leading DBU to a 3-0 record. For the week, Emmert had 66 digs, averaging 7.33 per game. She also contributed with five assists and four aces.
“Having our players recognized by the conference is an honor, especially two weeks in a row. They have been playing well this season, and truly deserve this award,” Head Coach Cathy Ray said.
