Skyla Alvarado was raised in Canton, Texas and graduated from Canton High School in 2004. Before her move to Canton in 1993, she lived in Jennings, Louisiana, where she danced and competed for the Mini-Jazzers since the age of 4. In her earlier years in Canton, she was involved in gymnastics at East Texas Twisters Gym and CYRA Pee-Wee Cheerleading. After 5 years of gymnastic and cheerleading classes at the local gym, she decided to take her experience and tryout for Canton's junior high cheer team.
Alvarado cheered throughout junior high and high school, receiving All-Around Best Cheerleader in 2002 and co-captain in the years of 2000-2001 and 2001-2002. Loving the sport of cheerleading and gymnastics, her first job was at East Texas Twister Gymnastics as an instructor. During Alvarado's two years at ETTG, she assisted the All-Star junior team in stunting.
In 2006, Alvarado served as the assistant coach to the DBU Patriot Cheerleading team and was named the Head Coach of DBU's Cheerleading Squad in January of 2007. Alvarado resides in Dallas, Texas and attends First Baptist Church of Irving.
