MAWL 5307 (3-3-0) History of Worship Song
This course will equip the student with an understanding of the practice and function of corporate song in worship. Psalms, hymns, and contemporary songs will be studied from historical, theological, and musical perspectives. The aesthetic, cultural, and stylistic environments of each musical genre will be studied in order to reveal the purpose of the creation of these compositions for the worship experience. Performance practice is studied in order to prepare worship leaders with necessary skill sets to lead corporate song for today’s church. Fall, Online.
