MATH 3308 (3-3-0) Introduction to Probability and Statistics
A representative introduction to both the data-oriented nature of statistics and the mathematical concepts underlying statistics. Topics include data gathering and experimental design, organizing and describing data, classical probability theory, and statistical inference, probabilistic modeling methods applied to the analysis of biological sequences such as DNA and proteins, and DNA sequence structure and homology modeling.TI-83/84 Plus graphing calculator required. Spring.
Prerequisite: MATH 1405.
