ENSC 3306   (3-3-0)   Chemistry of Hazardous Materials
An advanced undergraduate course applying principles from chemistry and physics to the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals. Topics to be covered include corrosives, oxidizers, flammables, explosives, water reactive, pyrophoric, heavy metals, organic solvents, polymers, and chemicals that can be used by terrorists as weapons. DOT and OSHA regulations pertaining to hazardous chemicals will be discussed. An overview of toxicology and radioactivity is included. Spring.
Prerequisite: ENSC 2306.
