ENGL 1401 (4-4-0) Composition and Rhetoric I (Non-native English speakers) A course for non-native English speaking students to develop skills in writing and reading. Major emphasis is on the composition of multi-paragraph essays, using a variety of rhetorical devices. Extra time is given to the development of English vocabulary and grammar skills appropriate for the non-native speaker. The selected readings are employed to illustrate effective writing and to develop critical reading skills. Although this course is restricted to non-native speakers of English, the requirements of the course are identical to those of English 1301 classes at DBU. Proctored midterm and final assay exams are required for this course in all its forms: traditional, hybrid, and online. Fall, Spring. Prerequisite: None.
