Academic Credit for Corporate Experience

Subject to departmental approval/policies, Dallas Baptist University accepts credit recommendations for courses that have been evaluated by the American Council on Education as specified in:

The National Guide to Educational Credit for Training Programs (ACE)
College Credit Recommendations: The Directory of the National Program on Noncollegiate Sponsored Instruction (PONSI)

Some corporate training credit is available on a transcript from the American Council on its Education Registry. In other instances, the training is validated by ACE in the guidebook and carries college credit, but the credit is not available by transcript from ACE.

A student's first step is to call ACE at 202-939-9434 to determine whether or not the sponsoring organization is part of ACE's Registry.

If the organization is part of the ACE Registry, ACE will provide a registration packet with instructions and information.

If the sponsoring organization is not part of the ACE registry, the student notifies the school that the sponsor is not part of the ACE Registry. In order for a student to receive credit for training validated by ACE, the student would submit to the University official training records along with copies of pages from the ACE guidebook that indicate the recommended credit. A PRST counselor can work with the student to secure the proper records which are then submitted to the Registrar to be recorded on the student's transcript.

A transcription fee of $25.00 per course will be charged the student by DBU.

Note:  DBU has a policy of not accepting Police Academy training credit.  Students with academy background may utilize this training in the construction of portfolio petitions.
